The Denver Mile High Air Races made Denver, Colorado the nation’s aviation capital for July 3rd, 4th, and 5th of 1936. All kinds of modern aircraft and everyone known in aviation participated in the many events held at the Denver Municipal airport. The 1936 National Balloon Races were to be the highlight of the first day’s activities. Amelia Erhart was the balloon races’ Honorary Referee.
